You're not saying which satellite provider. There's a difference between ExpressVu and Starchoice. You can get digital sound from basic SC receivers while you have to get the more expensive PVR or HD receiver with Bev to get digital sound so when you say better sound... You're omitting important details. Basic Rogers receivers offer digital sound too on coax.

I understand and I realise that there are other providers out there but I basicly wanted to know who had what

I did leave the option open

I am aware of the technical differences :)

I have tried HDTV from both ExpressVu and Rogers Digital. And my verdict is for Rogers, hands down. Because of Bev's very limited bandwitdh, ALL HDTV channels are limited to 720 resolution while Rogers provides the full 1080i. This will probably never change for Bev unless they launch a new satellite. It actually may get worse as HDTV becomes more popular.

I also love the convenience of having normal analog TV throughout the rest of the house for the TVs without a receiver. On a 25" TV, issues like compression artifacts are not an issue.

Is the question what do we have and/or use, or is it which is better?!? http://www.mysmilie.de/english/green/smilies/confused/14.gif

I have cable myself... too many TVs for satellite...

I have ExpressVu. This is my fifth year, I find the sound and picture quality is excellent compared to what I was getting on Roger's Cable Television at the time.

digital cable has less of a installation fee and the rogers on demand is nice !

Man... I totally forgot about Video On Demand. It's really awesome on cable and Satellite can only dream about this until the day they're bi-directional (will probably never happen for Bev and Starchoice). The future of VOD is huge.

ROD is a big plus in favour of Rogers, although at times the quality is less than excellent, particularily, on the lower channels. the tearing pictures and occasional freezing are annoying too.

On cable - tried for LOOK Digital, but we are too close and too low to the tower, go figure!

I was with Bev for a while and left. They wanted to charge me $40 in disconnection fee and I told them where to stuff it. They've been after me for that $40 for over a year now. :D

I have satellite (bell) because of the move, but liked Digital Cable (Rogers) a lot more.

Basic cable period. No need for extra channels there's enough crap on the regulars.
There's really nothing interesting that is offered by either cable or satilte.

Starchoice replaced Rogers for us 1 1/2 years ago. No complaints here (except that rogers keeps calling to try to get us to switch)

Same here, we were going to get Bell Expressview, But we tried out Rogers Digital Cable at home, And my Friend had BEV. So I liked the guide in Rogers, but in BEV i noticed that my friends signal would cut out from time to time.

Also someone in my family has satalite (dont know the company) and the guide is totaly pointless, all it shows is a channel number, nothing else doesnt even say what show it is or the channel name.

But all in all, Rogers Digital cable is good (Cant live without that TMNOD [Incase you dont know its The Movie Network On Demand-Simular to Rogers on Demand but its free for TMN suscribers])
