I cannot boot into window.

When I power on, the cpu goes thru all the check...memory...cd rom..etc

Then say boot failure.

The info. drive a.........1`.44

I tried to re-install win. I get no fixed disk present.
win 98 has detected that dr. C does not contain a valid fat or fat 32 partition.

I tried norton Anti Virus disk
Scandisk /all/ surface on Dr. C
chkdsk.exe
scandisk.exe
sys.com rom a:/dr.
I have use of my cd rom when I use win 98 start up disk

I am hoping not to lose any info. on my hard drive.

I did dir on dr. C: there was 15 files.

I have also tried on drive C:\ fdisk /mbr
received no fixed disks present

if you can get the name of the hard drive you should go to
the manufactures web site and down load the diagnostic
utility. it will tell you if the drive is toast.

I have this software already on a disk. I will try it.

I do not know why I have not try this before...daydreaming I guess.

you can try to double check the cable connecters and what not.. if its a no go.. get the drive RMA'd

Hi:

I did a diagnostic of the hard drive and it was not detected, so the hard drive much be gone.. I guess I will have to get an rma and return it.

You might want to check your IDE and power cables to the HDD... and if possble, try the HDD in another computer to see if it works.

Also, make sure that it is jumpered correctly. It should have the jumper settings on the hard drive.
