TORONTO (CP) - Ontario residents will have their say in whether the province decides to add two more months of daylight saving time.

The government wants to canvass opinions from residents and various sectors across the province to see what they think of extending daylight saving time - an idea being contemplated by the United States. Ontarians can e-mail the government to let politicians know what they think of the idea.

The e-mail address is daylightsaving@jus.gov.on.ca.

I wonder are the days getting longer?
seems rather odd that they want to change
system that works.

If it can be proved to save electricity, and therefore cut down of fossil fuel use during peak periods, then I'm for it.

I could care less who thought of it first.

agreed. It would be great to have it year round and have that extra hour of daylight in the middle of winter when we go to work and come home in the dark.

The US spent two full years on DST in the 70's so the data on energy consumption is available out there. Just search for it.

But in my opinion, we can do away with this timeshift. It's pointless. Just scrap the whole thing.

It's because the US congress is voting on doing this nation-wide and like it or not, it will affect us if we don't follow.
