Well, it's done.. Penguins get the first pick over all this year in the draft...Also dubbed the Sydney Crosby Draft ....Anyways it looks like Pittsburgh will take Syd the kid first overall. That will really help them out. Any thoughts ?

Having watched Crosby play, he is one heck of a talented player so the Pens really lucked out there.
One question:
How were the number of balls each team received arrived at?

30 teams in the NHL, so every team had one bingo ball in the lottery. Then for every year a team didn't make the playoffs in the last 2 seasons they got an extra bingo ball. Which turned out to be 4 teams with 3 bingo balls , For every year a team got the first choice they lost a bingo ball. So, that is the formula they used...as for the rest I will let you read this ... it might explain it better then me .. lol

The new logo is fine but if they start tinkering with the theme to HNIC I'll be really pissed :D lol

That theme has gone through a lot of variations over time. They've 'jazzed' it up over the years and it's not as good as the older ones of the sixties and seventies (in my opinion anyway)

I know what you mean Lee Anne, me and the boys would sit around every Saturday with our case of beer and channel surf.
It just wasn't same.

So when will Sid the Kid make enough money to buy the Pens off Mario, and bail them out?.....and who drew the balls out of the hopper...Paul Martin or Jean Chretian?....I'm sure Grapes will have LOTS to say about their pick in the draw...Anyway..Good for Pittsburgh

"Decided"???
No mystery there.
More revenue through new team jerseys with the new logo on them. :ish:
Next year it's the teams' turn.

all i know is that Pittsburg has got some 1st rounder in Russia Malakov or somethin like that, and he's really good.
Crosby, Lemieux, Straka
Oh Im just thinking here, about things that would never happen, but max contract is what 7.8, Im thinking Pitts gets Jagr back,
I would follow the Pens around to every building if that happened. And yes Jagr has head (mental) problems but theres no denying that when he plays he's top 5 best in the league.
Back to reality...... I choose Pens as no.1 PowerPlay this year. and I really hope Lemieux spends some dollars on defensemen to help out Fleury in net, Heck Pitt's will be on PP enough to win the game. and there gona sell out their building most likely for most of the year, cause we will finally get to see Lemieux, (unobstructed) and have him feed Crosby vice versa, man it's gona be sweet, it's like exactly what the NHL needed, badly to bring the game back.
-------->I really wonder if the draft was fixed...... sure would make sense.

The Rangers have come out and said they're not buying Jagr out...so he'll be in a Rangers uniform this season...Pittsburg has the ground work to be good on the power play. But's let's all stop for a second. Crosby hasn't played a minute in the NHL, These guys are 10 times stronger and 10 times faster then CHL players. So let's not give him credit yet...yes credit for what he has done in the CHL. But until I see him play in the NHL with the big boys. I'll wait too call him the "Next Big Thing" :)
edit: here is the story about Jagr and a quote from it "Sportsnet.ca -- Despite recent reports to the contrary, the New York Rangers have no intensions of buying out forward Jaromir Jagr."

Na, better Crosby plays with Lemieux, league revenues gona go through the roof, I might even get rogers hockey package to watch everygame, where if Crosby were on Montreal I wouldn't care so much.
However, Pittsburgh can make some interesting moves and signings, and the most untalked about player that will benifit from the rule changes is Paul Kariya
He's Fast, scored that 'GOAL' in the olympics w/Lemieux!!. He's an URFreeAgent and only got 1mill last yr. I really want to see Pittsburg pick up Kariya.
Jagr may command too much money to be signed by Pittsburgh, however I believe there is no limit on Bonuses payed out to players as it is not part of the cap, so sign for low, and have tons of bonuses.
So Kariya & Jagr is what Pitts Need. Well that and 2 Defensemen
I don't want to be the first to say this but all those old golies, ie belfour will suffer because of the shrinkage in pads, and guys like Fleury will be doing better.
