If I transfer photos to a CD can I add to the same CD with another
folder of photos until the CD if filled or will I damage the inital transfer by trying to do so ?> Am using Win Xp Home

If your burner supports it and you set up your burning software to include "packet writing"...

you can drag-and-drop to a CD-R or CD-RW as if it were a hard drive.

I would go along with using a CD-RW as a backup store, but remember that they are not as durable as CD-R's. I have heard that even a few hours on a sunny window ledge can wipe data!
So keep it safe, and possibly a second copy just in case, and when the CD-RW is full, back it up to a CD-R.
But probably, most important with anything you don't want to loose, after you have written it - check that you can read it! The verify function in programs like Nero may take time, but it has alerted me to problems on several occasions.

you are able to do this just dont finazlie the cd while burning,
it will leave it open till the next time you want to burn something to it
it will just write a new TOS for it to work
i do it with my picture backup cds all the time
