This week i happened upon a few hits and a few flunks. this weeks list included
Team America - World Police
Ray
coach carter
ladder 49
going the distance
A series of unfortunate events
Taxi
The likes where Ray, Coach Carter, Team America, and ladder 49
Ray is of course the life's story of ray Charles. It takes you back to his childhood while visiting his life as he climbs the ladder of success in the music world. filled with tear jerking moments, for me it was an interesting view into a world not even seen by the man living in it. Coach Carter is another biography of a man who takes a troubled basket ball team and turns them into respectable young men, with a predictable story line i think just the moral effect of the movie was what drew me into it. A sense of well being and pride is instilled. both of these movies are a great choice for a couple with a night to themselves.
Ladder 49 is the ultimate chick flick, with a little something to keep the guys entertained. Firemen are the usual hunks the women fall for but following the career path of one unfortunate man was a blast for anyone. Not a first choice for a kids movie, this movie nearly brought a tear to my eye. the story line was great and everything about this movie was interesting. A wonderful mixing pot of laughter, heart breakers, and tearjerkers i suggest this movie for anyone over the age of 15, who has a night to themselves.
Next Team America World Police.
A debatable movie completely dependant on your own sense of humour.
Following the complete line of south park humour this movie has a hidden joke everywhere. the in your face comedy is not for everyone and you must understand this before watching this. poking fun at the recent terrorist activity and the attempts to control it Team America is always on the hunt for terrorists and Weapons of mass destruction, destroying everything they touch. if you have watched and enjoyed south park, then this movie is for you. definitely recommended.
Last but not least
going the distance
A series of unfortunate events
Taxi
going the distance is a movie about a bunch of teenage boys going far away to chase a girl, the plot line had a very variations but this seemed to me like another cookie cutter film. good thing about it was that it involved MTV and some parts of canada
A series of unfortunate events was a fair film, perhaps more for the kids. I read the books and this movie didnt seem to stack up, Jim carrey was an excellent choice and the children were well portrayed. I guess for me it was the plot line that just didnt seem as juicy as the books.
Finally Taxi, with queen latifa and jimmy fallon this movie was okay, but again the plot was fairly predictable the jokes to me were flat. It just made it into the flop pile, and therefore should be left up to your own taste.
