I'm about to install a Radeon 9200SE 128MB graphics card to replace my old 32MB card.. I bought this card used from someone (not here) last year. I just now noticed there's no fan on the heat sink. Is it possible that it will run OK without a fan?
All the images I can find show no fan on the heat sink so I would say it will be fine.

Why didn't I think of doing what you did?? :)
Thanks Taz ... I'll try the install and see if I run into any problems.

Hint:
try to give the card as much air movement as possible.
if not installed get a case fan be sure not to place
cables so they block the flow of air. if it didn't come
with a fan it don't need one but good air flow is
always a good thing.

Hey Ken,
I took out a network card that was sitting very close to the video card's heatsink to allow for good air flow in that area. Other than that the case has good air flow ... cables are not restricting air movement.
Because I had bought the card used I didn't know if maybe it came with a fan orginally and the seller just didn't give it to me.
The install went fine. I guess I'll find out after a while whether or not the heatsink needs a fan but Taz's investigation indicates most likely it doesn't.
Thanks for your input Ken

That card doesn't need a fan - installed a couple of them without any problems. It's better that way anyway - most of those fans fail within the first year of use.
