Is it easy to install lame, is there anything I should know?

I need to for Audacity to convert files to mp3...

Dunno. But here is a LAME encoder for iTunes:

It is an Applescript, accessible off of a menu from within iTunes.

audacity has a link to the lame file you need http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3
and it's pretty self explanatory on how to set it up.
