It is starting to get annoying. Everytime I get out of the car and touch the door or any metal part, the car shocks me. Also shocks passengers getting out of the car. There must be something wrong.
HELP!!
Also do those $11 straps work or help??
Again Thanks

Those ground straps are to help for the people that get car sick.
The shocks you and everyone else get is a combo of the dry time of year and the type of material that covers your seats.
GM and Ford are two of the worst for this.
Over the last two or three weeks I've been getting them too... worst it's been in years.
Even if I don't touch anything on the way out of the truck, as soon as I go to open the door on the house I get zapped!
Bottom line, as you're getting out, hold on to the doorframe so you don't build up the chage in the first place ;)

I just hold on to the better half's hand and then touch metal, she gets the charge and almost always falls for it! :tooths:

I used to close the door by pushing on the window rather then on the frame. But no matter what it gets you somewhere. Hate when that happens.
I think some clothing makes it worse than other together with some of the seat materials.
Now if we only could utilize this source of energy ;-)

Static Guard your car seats or etc. A light coat stops the electrostatic charge.

That's basically what I was told on gminsidenews.com as well. I've got cloth seats in my car. Should have went for the leather seats ;).

Cloth (wool especially) and leather don't mix.
I have neither, and don't have a problem.

Rub a sheet of Bounce or spray a solution (approx 25%) of fabric softener on the seats. (This also works for carpets too.)
