I have AVG on my pc running. I know if you run 2 virus scanners it messes up your computer. Im not looking to do that but I noticed on avast.com they have this Free Virus and Worm Removal tool http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_cleaner.html

If i were to run this would it cause any issues to my pc?

I don't forsee any problems.

From the link you provided, under important notes #2
Turn off any resident (on-access) antivirus protection before running avast! Virus Cleaner. avast! Virus Cleaner has to access the infected files to be able to identify and remove them. The resident protection, however, might not permit it - and the worm could not be removed from your computer! Do not forget to activate the resident protection again after avast! Virus Cleaner has finished the disinfection.

The only thing to note is that the tool will only remove the selected malware in it's list.

Ya thats what i was using the program for to scan to remove the certain malware in the list.

Ron if i quit the AVG Control center i take it that would be the resident scanner that there talking about taking off.

I don't use AVG so I really can't say, but it is possible. Maybe somebody who uses AVG can confirm this. Do you have the option of right clicking the icon in the lower right hand corner and turning off the scanner's resident protection.

I don't use avg. Seems to be a pain to turn off real time.
I even have a snooze feature with mine.

Found this at Grisoft site:

How to disable the AVG temporarily
If you need to disable your AVG anti-virus program temporarily (e.g if you need to install some drivers for a new hardware ), itīs only needed to deactivate the AVG Resident Shield.

You can do it this way:

run the AVG anti-virus

click on the Launch AVG Control Center option

double-click on the AVG Resident Shield component

disable all options here

save these settings using the OK button

Note: please donīt forget to activate the AVG Resident Shield component then because itīs an important part of the anti-virus control on your computer!

Also found this about exiting Control center:
" Terminating AVG Control Center doesn’t mean terminating Resident Shield, so antivirus scanning is still active. However, terminating AVG Control Center causes all schedulers (updates, tests) to stop functioning, what means that it is really necessary to have sufficient reason to switch it off.
