Samsung, 1 reason only.
Every PC i've ever purchased had a Samsung from the manufacturer, and it's the only HD that hadn't crashed or given me problems.
I've bought a few Maxtor's only to have them RMA.
I've never tried any other brand of HD.

I've had bad drives from all manufacturers, although I have primarily WD drives ATM and have had no problems with any of them.

90% of my drives are Western Digital. I have found over the years they last longer.

From what we replace in the store we find that WD is the best ..

I have WD, 2 maxtors and am still using an old 6gig quantum (prior to being bought by maxtor)and have used seagate in the past. My vote currently goes to WD but quantum was always my favorite.

I like Maxtor better. I have worked on pcs with other hds which had problems and yet i have had 1 or 2 problems with maxtors HDD's not as much as other Companys that I have seen.
Overall they are all about the same give or take. I just hope since Maxtor & Segate are together now they will make even better drives :)

Can somebody answer me this, has western digital been using the fluid dynamic flux capacitors in their harddrives? I've a 80GB "JB" model I bought a while ago, still going great, and I thought it had the FDB motor but I'm not too sure anymore. I also read that the 250GB "JB" has ball bearing motor. Does anybody know anything about what type of bearings WD uses?

iam for WD works well IMO
I don't care as long as it works and doesn't lose my data. I haven't had problems with any drive except for an old quantum.

Fujitsu ?
Do they still make drives?
I gave up on them when I couldn't get 2 identical drives out of a stock of 12 available to function in a striped array for more than a few days without crapping out.

{Fujitsu ?} Do they still make drives?
Yes, but just laptop drives... and from what I've heard from some is they make a very good drive now...
But with their bad rep from years ago with all their PC drives dieing... well, they were best to leave that segment ;)
As for what I like; Seagate is my favorite... followed by WD
Only because Seagate offers a 5 year warranty and WD is only 3
About 5 years ago Seagate was just a bit ahead of WD, but both of these drives are equal in quality today.
