I really hope they make the playoffs.

it's too bad they haven't played like this all season, then they wouldn't be in such a predicament.

I'm glad they signed Aubin, nice to see they have decided not get to rid of a good player and perhaps can have a much better season next come Oct

So is Belfore gone now that they signed Aubin? he looks like a good goal keep.

Belfour's hurt and he's out for the rest of the season. He's well beyond his "best before" date and methinks it's time for him to retire imo.

I'm glad they signed Aubin as well. He has a lot of potential.

At least it is good to see the Leafs fighting for a while, too bad they didn't do this earlier

Aubin or Telvquist are not number one goaltenders. Unless they get a goaltender to replace Belfour they'll be a lost cause again next season.

I disagree. Belfour's over the hill (in terms of hockey playing age) and the Leafs need to start rebuilding with youth. Aubin is a good start. Besides, you don't magically become a #1 goaltender. You need to play a full schedule to become one.

It worked with Ottawa years ago, and would work with the Leafs, if only management would get with the program and stop signing neanderthals on short term contracts :ntb:

That would be a big mistake and a waste of money . He's 39 and will be 40 next april. Too old.

The Leafs need to build for the long term rather than the short term.

The only way to do that is with younger guys. It's not rocket science, but commom sense seems to elude Leafs management and their talent scouts for some unknown reason :ntb:

You need more than a good goalie to win, you need guys that play like a team, and they haven't done that consistently since they won the cup in the 60's.

Playoff hopes, I think not.....

Agreed, but that is the coach's job. He must take all that raw talent and mold them into a team.

That's exactly what Ottawa did, and what the Edmonton Oilers did way back in the Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, and Coffey days.

As handsomely compensated professional athletes, each player is responsible for being as a team and showing up each day with no less than 100% effort.

The players you cited always kept their end of the bargain. I don't see it much from many of the current Leaf roster or even across the league.

Now if clubs could fire players, and I mean "out-at-the-curb-in 10-minutes-with-a-cardboard-box-of-your-****" fire players, you might see some changes.

Time to lock the sods out for another year.

So that is the end of the Leafs. I must give credit where it's due. The team didn't give up and they were playing pretty good at the end. They have a lot of positives they can carry forward to next year ...Aubin being one.
Oh and the part where Tucker gave Alfie the Klown a major beatdown was the greatest moment in sports history ...ever!

Even better, when the Buffalo player was showing the Leafs a proper golf swing, funniest thing I have seen at a game lol
