Following the disaster in London, the Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" worldwide campaign.

The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency".

In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple that everyone can do it. Please do.

Please will you also email this to all the people you know, it won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

It’s a great idea, store it in your phone then pass on the message to your family and friends....

A friend of mine is the McCloud Emergency Manager in Oklahoma. He recently sent me an email about ICE, recommending that the word is spread about using ICE.

I keep my phone locked all the time. But I suppose if the authorities wanted my ICE contact list bad enough, they'd figure it out.

Me too, but it's 1,2,3. It even says so.

I keep hitting the damn buttons when it's in my pocket.

I usually don't forward anything to my mailing lists but I think this is a good idea although the process might be different depending on your situtation.

Personally I keep a listing of key people to call ICE in my wallet, in my glove compartment and on the fridge at home. I am not a cell phone freak so I don't load the memory with a lot of contacts but only those that I know personally and would know who to contact if they were contacted.
