Can only start in safe mode.

Acer laptop computer running windows xp. The problem is that it can only start in safe mode. Cannot run system restore. Cannot start up normally. I cannot tell you what was installed or unintalled because its my neighbours computer. I am not that familiar with xp cause I use 2000.

I presume that you have access to the original Windows XP install CD? If you do, then boot to it, and do a Windows repair - not the first Repair option that comes up, but select to install Windows and it will give you the option of "Repair an existing installation of Windows" after it loads the drivers, etc.
