Hey all,

I've got an old K6 Compaq Laptop that I want to give to my kids to use. Here's the problem: CD-ROM drive is more or less useless.

It does however have a floppy drive that it can boot on.

So I would like to do the following options:

1.) Boot with a DOS disk, partition and format;
2.) Boot with a Linux disc that has network support and a client that can access a windows/apple/FTP/WWW/anything share on my LAN and move the setup files for winbl0w$ over the HD
3.) setup win from C: then delete the setup files (or keep em')

OR

1.) Install a linux version my kids could learn to use (network/internet install?)

Any suggestions?

TIA

Not completely sure if this is what you want, but it looks promising.

I'll post what works out.

The big problem is that the NIC is USB... I'm not sure if the bootable OS will have the driver for it...
