I've got a mixed network of 3 computers with XP home, XP Pro and win ME. From the Pro machine I can see all shared folders and browse. Going from ME I get access denied when I try to browse but I can go directly to a shared folder if I know the path, ie \\pro\shared From the XP Home machine I can't see or access anything.
Everything is conected through a D-Link router and all 3 machines can access the internet.

I know there is somthing about setting groups and permissions but I don't know XP well enough yet. Any help?

Don't quite understand your question but do you have NETBEUI installed on ME if not install it it will help with that machine.

Okay, I'll simplify. I want to jump on my Win ME computer, open Network Neighbourhood, click on the Win XP icon and see all of the shared folders on that computer. As of now I can't, I get access denied.
Better or no?

Try these (one at a time) on the XP machine:
Click Start->Run->gpedit.msc <enter>
Security Settings
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options
Sharing Mode- Change this to "Classic Mode - Local users Authenticate as Themselves" (as opposed to "Guest only" the default model)

Disable Simple File Sharing:
Right-click the Start button and click Explore
Click Tools/Click Folder Options
Click the View tab
At the bottom of the Advanced Settings list, deselect (remove the checkbox from):
"Use simple file sharing (Recommended)"
Click OK
