View Full Version : Auto Insurance?
Does anybody know of any compan that on average has low rates? To sum my story up, I was involved in 2 non-at-fault acciedents and my dad's insurance is extremely high. I am 18 so yea 18 with two acciendents is not a good start to a driving record, but the two acciedents occourd 2 years ago when I just got my g2. Does anybody know of any good cheap insurance companies? or ways to get a lower price?
please do not flame and talk about how reckless I am, becuase acciedents do happen :rrg:
I was also looking for a company like progressive where I get their qoute plus other qoutes for other companies.
Thanks for your time.

If you were not at fault, why not give your Dad's company a chance to give you a quote? They at least know you.
I am currently under my dad, he doesn't have a comany rather im under his insurance. I was found not at fault by the police and court (1 acciedent we took to court) but, my dad says that insurance has different policies.
the first acciedent I rear-ended a lady but the weather was horrible and the police ruled it a no fault
second acciedent i was making a three way turn and a guy didn't see me and t-boned me.
My dad talked to insurance and they said that if anyone does a three way or a u turn than they are always at fault, which in my opinion is bs, becuase when i started my manuevour no one was there he came from a side street and didn't see me or someting.

Sorry, but your idea of no-fault and mine are different.
Good luck.

'Not at fault' by the police and 'no fault insurance' are two comletely different things.
No matter if you were found 'at fault' in the accidents or not, the insurance companies are going to see you as a high risk driver... period.
All you can do is call some brokers and have them line up some quotes for ya.... or wait til 6 years has passed since the last accident... that's when your rates will *start* to drop ;)
Sorry Test.... I was there too when I was your age... made me learn to be a more defencive driver. ;)

Insurance companies determine who is at fault not police.
Ohhh okay, thanks guys for the advice.. Dan it takes six years after your last acciedent for rates to drop? Thats ridiculus? Any advice?

I have an accident at work, police say Im not at fault.
Company says I didn't do everything possible to prevent it (preventable) and it goes on my company record.
My own car insurance does an abstract and see the accident and my personal insurance goes up.
Life ain't fair. Live and learn.
Like it's been said. Phone around and compare your quotes.
Be prepared for high rates for a long time.
We've all been there as a new driver and for some, we never get out.
Thanks guys. I will do what you guys said. Thanks for all the advice and thanks for not flamming me :D

we were all 16, 17 and 18 at some point. It sucks to be a statistic....but with car insurance...that's all we are to them. :(

That's the way it's always been... you have to prove yourself for 6 years before they consider you a good driver again.
Advice? Walk, ride a bike, or take a bus... Again, sorry... they got you between a rock and a hard place... and there's nothing you can do about it :hsh:

First, dbusguy, I had a preventable with my company truck, and when they tried to increase my personal car insurance, I disputed the increase, and they agreed with me. If you drive for a living, and have an accident, it should not reflect your personal rates.
test, my advice is to try the banks, they have some of the lowest rates out there, TD insurance, RBC Insurance, PC Financial, and CIBC, to name a few....

What has to be remembered, is that insurance is not really based on fault as most people seem to think - but 'risk'. While you may not be at fault, as an example if you have your car damaged regularly while parked on a busy narrow street, the fact that the car is parked on a busy narrow street means that you are presenting the insurance company with a greater risk - so they want more to cover you.
An example of how unfair this can be is a Paediatrician being loaded for making claims because a moron mistook them for being a Paedophile. I have seen reports of such misunderstandings.

That really depends on the insurance company, any "black mark " on your driving record can affect your personal insurance whether it be from a commercial vehicle or a personel.
