I had chosen the quicktime player not to play any video or audio other then the quicktime video format. I also went into my filetypes and chose all my wma and mp3s to be played in winamp yet the quicktime still plays them.

One way to fix the issue but its only temporary is to let windows media player play all the file types. I chose this in windows media player but i really shouldnt have to do this all the time.

Anyone who is quicktime know how to fix this so it doesnt play the mp3 all the time in quicktime.

Right click on any MP3 and go to Properties, then click on the Change button and choose whatever player you want to play MP3's. Make sure to click on the checkbox for Always use selected program.

Well i did all that and it still didnt solve the problem. My quicktime is still playing the mp3 file. BTW i forgot to mention cause i just saw i didnt mention this that i was trying to play an mp3 from a website. I was clicking on it and thats when my quicktime started up to play the mp3. Sorry i didnt mention that before. But i did try what you asked and the quicktime still plays the mp3 that is on the web.

My guess would be that the web site you're on instructs QT to open which you'll have no control over...
All you can try to do is D/L the file first and play it with whatever you want... if the web site will allow you to D/L them ;)

Ya the website does allow me to play them cause i checked on podcasting sites and it does the same thing.

Then what i did was unistall this version of quicktime and installed the previous version on the site and the previous version works so it looks like i'll be using the previous version from now on.
