How can a person remove a partition from a hard drive without wiping out the operating system in part C? This drive is divided into 2 parts. One is C, One is D. Operating system is Windows XP.
THANX for any ideas & help.

This may help you, "It's important to understand that removing a partition will delete anything that's stored ...." http://www.microsoft.com/learning/books/troubleshooting/pc/ls/022102.asp

I would recommend using hard disk partitioning software.

If you have 2 partitions, why do you want to remove one? Most people want to divide there C: into two... yet you want to merge them??? :tch:

The only way you're going to do it is with something like Patition Magic and you'll want to merge.
But with anything like this, you must back up everything first... because if something goes wrong you'll loose everything.

Yes Partition magic doesnt delete anything, but it is risky, If theirs a problem while its doing it or a power outage, it could cause damage, As a matter of fact i just finished using partition magic to make another partition so it still works for me (this was version 8.01)

what you want to do is:
move all the files from the d: drive you want to the c: then wipe the d: parition clear, go into partition magic and merge them in their. But BACK UP ANYTHING IMPORTANT incase their is any problems.
