Caught this on another board, anyone know if it's true?
"Starting on August 2nd, rogers Lite speed increases from 256kbps to 384kbps, upload speed increase from 64 to 96.
For people who are using extreme, 5Mbps increases to 6Mbps, upload speed remains the same... but the best thing of all, 60gig limit increases 100gig bandwidth limit (Aug 3)!!!
And don't ask me where I get my sources from, I KNOW!"
The stuff in quotes isn't mine, just wonder if anyone has anything to add.:rrg:

Me. I'm such a dupe.
Well, at least I am back getting what I first signed-up for.
Prior to them knocking it down to 96kbps.
Wow 96 definitely overnight downloads

Rogers, Bell. Same pig, different teat.
I still believe Sprint will offer a telephone link in the fall.
I'm hopeful anyway.
My hate for Rogers, from the negative billing days, is quickly being matched by Bell.

Read somewhere that the Ontario government recently passed legislation making negative billing practices illegal.

It would explain why they didn't update my bandwidth usage since at the current rate I'm going I'll reach 60 at the end of the month. Gotta love racing season.

More from the same source.
"Interesting ... Looks like the rumours match up more or less.
The thing I heard was that *new connections* will get these speeds. It will be phased in for existing customers. My guess there is that it will be a) when Rogers reloads your modem, or b) when you powerfail your modem.
So, if this is true, PLEASE don't jump up and down in here on August 2 saying you haven't got the new speeds yet. Give it a couple weeks or so PLEASE. Then complain to Rogers ... not in here!"
How do you powerfail a modem?

Doesn't matter, Sprint is now owned by Rogers.
How do you powerfail a modem?
Disconnect the power from the modem

I had to call Rogers Tech support this morning due to my modem going UP AND DOWN like a yo-yo the past few days, and I asked the tech what was the word about the increase and he indicated that he didn't know anything at all.

4.8 down/0.78 up -- same as usual. Not that I'm complaining, nor will I hold my breath. I started with Rogers, but switched to Bell when Rogers became very unsatisfactory. Unfortunately Bell made me hate them even worse, so Rogers has become the lesser of evils -- and honestly I'm pretty happy with it now, even as is. The speed and cap increase would be a nice bonus though.

According to what I read on DSL forums the speed increase for existing customers happens in September and it will be $2 more per month, new customers get the speed increase right away .. current customers are also suppose to get a notice about it in the mail

As of July statement the cable portion of my Rogers bill went up $2.30 incl.taxes this month.
If the 384kbps rumours are true Lite will break through the 300k minimum required for Video Streaming so I'm okay with that.
The cable increase came with no added value.

Yes, 350+ would make Lite so much better.... and changing the upload from 64 to 128 would be a godsend.... it really chokes the download when you're doing torrents...

Did you try resetting your modem dbg?
Taz told me his Lite was increased, yet mine hadn't... I reset it it was there ;)
Also, as it's been said, exsisting Extreme users wouldn't see it for another month... Only new ones ;)

I'm not sure an increase for Extreme users is necessary, 600KB/s is pretty fast, the rest of the internet needs to catch up first, as in not many sites can handle sending out files that fast to everybody.
