Hey everyone,
I just bought this mp3 player from Futureshop today: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10057357&catid=10205&atab=4&spviewed=&logon=&langid=EN
I have been looking at getting one and last week I saw it at canada computers for $135 and I thought it was a great deal. Then I saw futureshop's flyer this week and it is $129 so i went and bought it.
It is a really small and light unit. Space is huge and it has fm radio (no recording i think), and a voice recorder. It is so easy to use too. In 5 mins i had opened the box and already put songs on it. It is like a removable drive so you just have to use windows explorer. It comes with musicmatch software which i dont think i will install. So does anyone else have this one? How do you like it?

I don't have that one but I am thinking of getting either the 5 or 20 gig Creative labs Zen, 1 gig would just not be enough for me ;) but it does sound like a really cool player

I am still using the battery that came with my player, AAA.
I have a sony digital camera that I got a charger for. It charges Ni-MH batteries. Can i use those type of batteries in my mp3 player? Or do they have to be Ni-Cad ones? And can i get any amount 2100mAH?
Thanks.

in the long run it will save you lots of money:)
just keep in mind if it isn't mention on the mp3
players documentation you should not charge
the Ni-MH in the player. always use a outside
charger meant for Ni-MH and you'll do fine.

what about the mAH? what is that? the one i was gonna buy is at best buy. It is an enegizer with 750mAH. The sony batteries that i charge now are 2100mAH....will there be a problem there?

should not be a problem just won't last as long as the ones you have now.
you might wont to look for another brand that has 2100 mah.

If it's a 'AAA' battery, then the highest you're going to find is about 850 mAh...
'AA' can get as high as 2500 mAh...

They have 2 GB and 4 GB versions. I am thinking about getting one. I commute now with a folding bike on and off the GO train so I am looking to save weight everywhere. My older CD rom disc-style iRiver MP3 will have to be replaced :)

What does this mean?
Support for MP3, WMA, and DRM WMA file formats (legally purchased music)
?
If I rip my own CD's and convert to MP3's...how will it know what is what?

The sound quality of this Sandisk is fine, but the navigation totally suckz a$$. With my iRiver CD MP3 you just click the top button down and there you are on the song you are at, and the list of songs. Scroll away and click the one you want. With this Sandisk, its song navigation is convoluted. Its nested within menu's and slow to access. You have to click MENU, then go to PLAY MUSIC, then scroll down to SONGS and THEN you are plopped at the top of the song list. What a pain in the arse. Totally facking useless. I will likely return this MP3 player for that reason alone. Perhaps I should go try them out and not buy over the net un-seen/un-tried. iRiver will be my first stop.

The navigation is crap. I am returning it. Anybody have any recommendations for a better unit?

I agree with you morksys. I have still got mine. But that was one thing I did not like. Also when you put the songs on the mp3 player, it doesnt order them alphabetically it just puts them in order of the time you put it on there. Oh well...still sounds great...

It sounds ok, but what a pain in the arse to get to the navigation every time. I think its the worst navigation I have ever seen. Even my sisters $100 Creative 512 MB mp3 player has better navigation. Back it goes.
