Well, Florida started off the free agent frenzy....they also got two of our Leafers :(... It's sad too see Roberts go, he's been a good player for us but I guess it's time to bring in some new and younger talent if we can. Let's cross our fingers that some of these FA want too play on Toronto :) Any thoughts ?

So then the Sens will have the same team again when they get kicked out of the playoffs by the Leafs .. again ;)
Have to admit to doing a bit of a happy dance once August hit also, next month is pre-season .. whoohoo !! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v420/leeanne172/Smilies%20Part%202/getdown.gif

Yes, as much as I didn't want too see Roberts go....I'm glad it wasn't too Ottawa :D
I always admired Roberts. He's 39 now but you'd never know it. The guy's in great shape and constantly works out. He always played full out giving 150% game in and game out. He's a class guy who's not full of himself like some of these other primadonnas. He's a leader and will be a good influence to the youngsters in Florida's dressing room as well.

yep i hope those two do well it was fun having them here.
I think the biggest challenge will be for the players to get used to all the new rules. These guys have always played with the old rules and it will take them time to get used to the smaller neutral zone etc. The goalies will have the toughest time with the equipment restrictions and how far or how much they can play the puck outside of their crease.
LOL

ha...the leafs only claim to fame....yes u beat us...yet thats all you've done....i don't see the leafs winning the cup either so it would seen we are both in the same boat.....yawn :)lol But really for many years the leafs would go out and buy good players to make them a contender. now that they are losing some of those players, who do they have? i'm not bashing but i am curious as to what some leaf fans think. Ottawa has built up their team through the draft for many years and it does show regardless of the playoff performance, i think any hockey fan can see that.... even domi is thinking of leaving....that says alot in my books.....anyhow we shall see....and again this is FRIENDLY banter.....

Don't sell the Sens short....I'm a fan and actually like the fact most players are still on the team. I just wish they'd get rid of their goalie and get someone younger.
As for the leafs, well I don't think they have a chance at the playoffs....two star players already gone.....a real boost for the Leafs to replace Roberts and Nieuwendyk would be.......Peter Forsberg and Peter Bondra....now that would be a solid 1st line....hmmmm....I hope Ottawa's contemplating signing those two names.
One more thing, I can't believe the Leafs resigned Antropov....talk about a waste.
Just my 2 cents...
p/s I wouldn't be surprised if Toronto signs Lindros........lol
All I want to see is good, solid, offensive and exciting hockey again. That's been so sorely lacking for the last 10 years. Hopefully we'll see that this year.

I have too give it too you, Ottawa has done a lot better over the years drafting younger players and making stars....Toronto has always depended on signing high profile players at the deadline to make a push for the cup. I really hate too say it, but for the next year or 2 even. Toronto is going too have too re-build our team into a contender...we'll make the play-offs this year (by knocking the sens out in the first round :P) but I don't think we can put a team together to make a run for the cup this year :(
