How do you shut down (kill) the messenger for Mac V3.0 on a PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.3.9 ?

I've done it on Windows with the program " Shoot the Messenger" is there a version for Mac some where?

Messenger keeps opening in the tool bar when the computer boots up but it looks as if the program has never been setup as a dialogue box with installation wizard shows up to install.
If I force quit the messenger icon in the tool bar every time I start the computer then when shutting down the computer I’m not faced with a pop up dialogue box to install messenger every time, as it that must then be shut down before the computer will shut down. I want to kill this messenger and can not drop it into the trash as it just pops out again; they should have given me a pail of water so I could hold it under; untill the tiny blue bubbles stoped comming up; maybe that would work!

I believe if you go into the preferences on the program, there is a check box that says something like launch at startup. Just uncheck this.

You are refering to two different things.

Windows Messenger is the app that "Shoot The Messenger" deals with.

The chat client called MSN (or Microsoft) Messenger has selections in the program options that allow you to control whether or not it opens when your o/s loads.

yes launch it, preferences>general, uncheck the startup on boot. But as long as you haven't given any system password on install, it should be safe to drag it to the trash.
