Boot using your WindXP CD
You may need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order
At the "Welcome To Setup" screen you will see the following choices..
To setup Windows XP now press ENTER....
To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console press R... (Do NOT press "R" to repair)
To quit Setup without installing Windows XP press F3.
You need to press Enter to start the Windows Setup.
After accepting the License Agreement it will search for existing installations....
Select the XP
installation you want to repair from the list. This will usually be C:\Windows then press
R to start the repair
Setup will copy all of the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot.
When it is rebooting and you see a message saying press any key to continue just leave it alone... Let the setup continue on its own.. It will look like its doing a clean install but it is only replacing system files all your applications and settings will be stay in place.
