During a visit to the mother-in-law's this past Friday we discovered that her newly-built gazebo -- specifically, one of the hanging flower pots in it -- had become home to a nesting morning dove. They don't ordinarily nest this close to the ground or within such close proximity to human habitation or other animals (particularly predators -- here there be cats!) but there it was, moved in and settled down not two hours after the pot was hung (which was about 3 months ago) Apparently two of her eggs hatched this morning.
