If all the retail stores would cut half their lights, it would make a big difference on demand. Actually it is a lot nicer is stores that have cut back on lighting ... a lot more comfortable and easier on the eyes. A few are doing it, but not enough. One WalMart, Zehrs, Sobeys, Loblaws, and shopping mall, cutting back is almost like a small town of homes doing without altogether.

I have seen the efforts of some stores and its good to see.
but some office buildings are set to full blast.
myself I need my ac which is now only doing 76f running full.
as I said all the lights are out the linux box is off till later. also
the small fridge I use for veggies has be turned off don't need
2 going. having salad for dindin so the oven won't be used.
just hope the hydro stays on we don't need a repeat of the
big black out.

I couldn't agree more, many retailers and malls could stand to bump their thermostat up a few degrees too. The IESO needs to focus on business and industry when addressing their "appeals" to conserve.

Burger King and KFC, both on Simcoe, have been doing this for about a month. And their signs are off too.
McD, on the other hand, is still lit up like a Christmas tree.
spadina and queen here at work haven't heard anything from my UPS's all day.

No probs here. Its another hot day, but...closed the right windows, shut all the blinds in our basement and had the AC on in the basement only half the day in low/low. Hope for the best. If everyone and every business would shut the blinds and raise their thermostat a couple degrees, we'd be ok. The only reason we even have the AC on is because both my parents are 73/77 and they need it. I don't. I appreciate it, but its not necessary.

I'm impressed. Went into our local Wal-Mart and lights were reduced by half and the AC was not as cool.
Zehrs, on the other hand was burning out your eye sockets. During the last/previous request for reduced consumption, Zehrs was running at half lighting - guess someone forgot to dim the lights this time. If still like that tomorrow, comments to the manager will be made. I turn down a few lights and they burn several hundred, each with much greater consumption.
