The problem is that when i put in the game, it will start normally, but when you start playing the game for about 3-5 minutes it shuts down, not just my game/ THE WHOLE COMPUTER!! Thats right the whole computer shuts down, im not sure what the problem is because I have played the exact game disc a few months ago and it worked fine. :tch:
The Video card is not the problem so im not sure what it is?
NOTE: also another game with no previous problems is now not working (Flight Simulator 2004) :( that too shuts the computer down and restarts it.
PLEASE HELP!!
Hey Sims2,
Hope I can help.
Are you running XP? If so, right click on the Max Payne shortcut icon and select compatability mode and select Windows 2000.
This fixed crashing problems for me (crashed to desktop).
Let me know if this helps.

I do have XP but it only worked on my other games that did not work in the past, should i try switching it to windows/98 or keep it at windows/2000? And I also though re-installing it would help but it did not, it seems that certain parts of the game shut down, examples are flight simulator 2004, when i use it i can only play for 4 minutes then it shuts down (once i get off the runway for example during gameplay) Its quite confusing and im looking for some more ideas but thanks Bman for the help, it did indeed help some of the games that were not working it just seems to be the Max Payne game. Also its nothing to do with the condition of the disc because it has been checked and it has no scratches or dust on it
Please feel free to give me opions or ideas!:tch:
,Thanks
Hey Sims2,
You are welcome - glad to assist.
An obvious question/statement, but make sure that you have the game fully patched.

Sorry but it still did not work, should i re-install the game?:( Or should i just smash the game into pieces:)
Geez, time to scratch my head.
Did a quick google search as I seem to recall similar problems.
Found this:

When you get a moment, have a read through and let us know if it assists.
Believe you had previously re-installed the game with no success.
The game itself is fantastic and worth the bother.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Cheers

This sounds more like your computer is overheating. You should check if all your fans are working. CPU's nowadays come with overheating protection that will just comepletely shut your pc off or restart without warning. Is the room your pc in normal temps or is the summer heat making the house hotter?
May not be the problem but worth the look.

Hello Jimbo282 & Bman,
And over heating was a slight problem but still did not help my two games which are (MaxPayne,Microsoft Flight Simulator). I have uploaded a program that tells me the temperature of the 2 drives i have in the computer (80GB=45degrees/30GB=38degrees). Now im not too sure if thats an ok temperature, my computer has only 1 fan in the back and there is no air holes on the sides of my computer. Heat in the computer i dont think is the problem because some games work and some games dont work. Games that work are: Sims2, Star Wars,Need For Speed, etc. The two right now that dont work are: Max Payne and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. When I start the games there always seems to be a part where it would shut down (MaxPayne=First Level- 1st gunshot) and (Flight Simulator 2004= The exact moment when i take off with any plane).
Thank you for all your suggestions and help, please feel free to add more help and answers,
Thanks!

Post your computer specifications and Processor temperatures.
Sounds like your computer shuts down during the most graphically intensive parts.

As you can see this is what my computer specifications are, is it possible for a 128mb Video card to crash when a high graphical point is detected?

I would still lean toward an overheating problem. Your harddrive seems to be running on the hot side @ 45C so if your harddrive is getting that host there is a good chance the rest of your computer could also be getting to hot. You also said you only have 1 back fan which is probably from the powersupply.
Try this, Open up the side of your computer and leave it open, see if you can now run the game any longer then before. Also if your computer is full of dust/dirt turn off the computer and clean that dust out.
If you can Post pictures of inside your computer.

http://http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7681/picture014si5.jpgOverheating must be the problem then so I took some pictures of the inside of my computer and it shows you the two inner fans I have, one is extremely dusty. By the looks of the inside what do you think of it?http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/4541/picture011sc6.jpg

Notice on the top corner that the back main fan is really dusty so I suppose cleaning it would help, i'll make sure to reply when the fans are cleaned. Thankshttp://img280.imageshack.us/img280/1166/picture012zs3.jpg

I would tell you how it looks BUT i cant see the pictures because they are from imageshack. & my work blocks things from that site. So i''ll take a look when i get home.
Buti f it is really dusty like you say it is, make sure to clean it all out. just make sure you turn off your computer and so on.

Well in those pics yes its a little dirty, but its not THAT bad but you should still clean it up for sure.
Also If you run the system without the side case do you still have problems? If not then it would be a cooling problem. I would recomend you add some Case fans since your case allows you to add 2 in the front and 1 in the back.
You can find some Good Low noise fans from SilenX, Get a 14dba one either normal or a color LED if you like, you can almost not hear the fan.

Heat is not the problem!! I just did a test where leaving the computer off for a significant amount of time, when turning it back on the starting temperature is approx. 23degrees, but after 5-10mins the computer rises up to 41degrees. I tested the game when it was @ starting temperature (23degrees) but the same thing happened, whenever I get to that part where I kill the first guy, or the first slow motion part happens it will shut down and restart the computer. Time to really scratch my head! :tch: I dont think its the video card because other games like I messioned earlier had no problems what so ever. Some of those working games are: Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Sims 2+expansion packs, GTA:San Andreas, etc.
Any other ideas what the problem is?

I would be looking at Video Card Drivers get the latest ones for your video card, If you already have the latest get an older version.

So your computer automatically restarts. Not just shutdown. Cause those can mean two different things.
Can you go into the control panel, then system properties. Click the advanced tab, and click the settings button in the Startup and Recovery Section.
Then uncheck the option Automatically Restart.
Click Ok till you close all the windows.
Now just play the game again and instead of the computer automatically restarting, a blue screen will appear detailing what went wrong. Most likely a driver issue as sickcars said.

Ok so what the problem is that it says "BAD_POOL_HEADER" I have looked into a few sites but not simple enough instructions to use. Can someone put some instructions that are more basic to follow?:tch:
Thanks

"BAD_POOL_HEADER" can apply to many different things... you'll need to give more of the info that you saw on the BSOD screen
