I found this information on my computer.

AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0xcfc), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

What does it mean?

It was found in Help and Support Centre - System Information.

There are numerous programs, that after being downloaded, and attempting to install, say "not a valid Win32" aplication, when they should be. Also, after installing some, they won't actually work.

Programs such as SoulSeek (a p2p mp3 finding/sharing program).
AVG Antivirus Free Edition.
Bullguard Free Edition.

There were more, but I can't remember what they were.

I have performed numerous scans online and offline, with panda, bit defender, spybot search and destroy, ad-aware se personal, and nothing has been found. No viruses, no trojans, nothing. Something is wrong with this computer, and there is no hint as to what it would be.

Any advice you can give, is greatly appreciated.

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if your computer's basic input/output system (BIOS) attempts to write to a port in AML [Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) Machine Language]. This attempt causes Microsoft Windows XP to prevent any access to that port. This feature has been designed to improve the stability of your computer's operating system.

STATUS
This behavior is by design.

Contact the BIOS vendor for a possible BIOS update. For more information see:
