Hi there. I've been busy changing and moving my website to my own .com and now want to get higher in the 'searches'. I'm working on my page meta tags but need help in where to go to submit my site - free of course :mdn: .

Suggestions, please.

You can try this link to get your website to be indexed by Google: http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl
However, there is not certainty that even though youve added youve submitted your url that it will actually be indexed by the Googlebot or no certainty of what its rank will be. You can definitely try it out though.

And viola! Hopefully you'll be indexed by Google!!!

Hint: "content" counts most.

Use every "alt tag" you can to add graphics descriptions
Meta Tags should correspond with content of that particular page
Make sure you have a text menu, even in small type, across the bottom of your page - it helps the bots follow through to index all the pages of your site
Make sure that text on each page is aboutr whatever you are trying to promote .... the more it is repeated, throughout the site, the higher your ranking
That all said, ranking will also depend on how many other sites have your same topic/wording/etc. You are competing for top billing against, literally, billions of webpages ....

Visit each search engine and follow their ADD URL link.

www.dmoz.org get listed there.
Go to alexa.com and submit the site information there.
Like Bogie said, visit the search engines and add your url.

Pass your link around as much as possible. Google bases their ranking on how often your address shows up on other peoples sites.
