I'm thinking of signing up with one of the electricity resellers, but I'm not sure whether it would be a good idea for me since I'm a low usage consumer. I'd really like to hear from others out there about this. Is there some way to determine which would be better for me? Any help would be appreciated.
I worked with one guy who used to sell those contracts. he bragged how much money he was going to save, because he signed himself up too...then the rates dropped and dropped even further...now he's very quiet about it.

They came to my door and I would have had to pay $0.09 per kw/h or whatever it was from April on I think it was. So far the prices haven't gotten that high yet and I would pay more.
I would certainly look at all the small print and ask all the right questions?
I think on the natural gas side the prices fell below from what some people were paying with their contracts.
I just keep asking myself, how can they offer you a flat rate while the prices on the power market go up and down. Years ago many "power brokers" went belly up in the US when they had to pay the high demand prices while selling to customers at a flat rate.
So why would it be different here?
I also was looking through the fine print and in my opinion it said something like if the prices go higher than what you pay for you might have to pay an adjustement fee. At least how I looked at it.

Let me count how many of those sales people I politely kick out of my store weekly.

Thanks for the input everyone. I really saved a lot by locking into a gas contract years ago and thought this would be the same but the more I read the less appealing this contract seemed to be.
Boy I'm glad I didn't sign up for this. With our mild winter prices have really dropped. So much for those #### fearmongering salesmen.
