Mac = Macroshaft. At least with PCs, only the OS is a rip off. I'll take that over paying twice as much for every little component.

mac fanboys just got to get over the fact that win xp on a mac x86 system actually runs universal mac programs and apps faster than tiger, geez,no crying in your beer fanboys [Maximum PC july /06]

well you see if you join a discussion about these sorts of things, you might consider puttin down the beer and the cheezies and actually read stuff.

Amazing what you just might learn.

Now go format your PC again, I think it's screwed up again.

Absolutely! I can laugh at a good joke at the Mac -- even Mac user's -- expense... and I can also laugh at AMD's ignorant bluster, too. Every time!

I thought mac hardware was expensive, isnt it?

Tim

no more expensive than equivalent PC hardware. In fact, often it's cheaper.

Well, like Dell, HP and the rest, they can't compete with someone building their OWN Windows PC. But, the DIY crowd are not the market segment that ANY of these companis are competing for. Feature-for feature, Apple's hardfware is pretty competitive -- and you use the best OS and most well designed software on it. It's a great way to compute!

Isn't that in part to the PC, i.e. intel innards?

No. A feature-for-feature comparison has usually shown Macs to be decently competitive. The differenc is that Apple doesn't strip many features fro their cheaper Macs to make ultra-low-end computers that compete with Dell's ulta-low-end >$500.00 systems.

it *is* a PC. Even with PPC chips it was competitive. Intel was a good move, as Intel has a better roadmap. Now that macs use the nice top end Intel chips, they're even better and competitive. But in way cooler designs, not to mention the superior OS.
