Future Shop in Waterloo had this on special in the store today for $39.99 ... apparently the regular price is $120. I went in for the $9.99 (after rebates) keyboard, but couldn't pass this up. I haven't installed yet ... anyone else have it? It's the MS Wireless Optical Desktop Comfort Edition. I'm hoping the keyboard feels as nice to type on as the Logitech I originally went in to buy and that the keyboard's curve is not a problem since I won't have that shape at work all day long.
Here's a screen capture of the pricing info from the MS site, as well.

My main gripe with those wireless devices is battery life since they're pretty much constantly used. Let me know how they measure up.

I will try to remember to follow up on this. Here's some info I found on the MS site.

This seems to be informative. Could be slanted in MS's favour though .. they paid the bill for the study.

My boyfriend had a wireless MS mouse a year or so ago, he liked the feel of the mouse but had two complaints that sent him back to a wired mouse. The batter life was terrible and the mouse took too long to come out of the power down feature that was intended to save battery life. I've used nothing but logitech cordless mice for at least five years and have nothing but praise for them.
All that aside I hope that MS worked the bugs out of their cordless mice and yours works well. I'd like to hear what you think because Roop is in the market for a new mouse and if the MS has gotten past the previous problems I'll buy him one.

I believe the novelty of Wireless KB/M has worn off. Only usefull for running a media station. For desktop pc's, they are more trouble than they are worth. I ran a combo last year for about 2 days before I returned them to FS. Back to my wired Logitech KB and mouse. I found delay also, and not worth it.

It's easier to clean your keyboard, lol, just pick it up and take it outside with a can of air. No delay (that I've ever noticed) with the logitech wireless mice.

True enough Lesley. :) But isn't the point this - Why does the average person with a desktop pc need wireless? Are those cords behind your desk really so annoying? I hate changing the batteries in my shaver and remotes, let alone worrying about them on my keyboard or mouse. :) Some people love the freedom I know, but for me, 6 feet of cord is more than I need.

I like not having cords, it's a bit less clutter behind my desk, which is already really cluttered. My KB batteries last about 6 months, mouse around two months. I got the wireless set originally because I liked the shape and feel of the mouse. Logitech's warrantee is really good too. I guess I'm used to it now, unless batteries (I buy bulk duracells at Costco) really go up in price I'll stay with it.

The new Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse is jsut as good as a corded mouse, maybe even better. It's a little expensive, $75, but it's worth it. I'm trying to create my cordless desktop by mixing the keyboard from the logitech lx 300 combo, but the keyboard wont work unless the other mouse is plugged in. :(..
