Thanks Taz, I have been trying for weeks to remember the name of that zoo, I have recommended it to co-workers who would also enjoy it. They go to a zoo at "Elmvale" (I think) that sounds very similar to the zoo at The Bend.
My hubby and I took our sons there about 25 or so years ago and our sons still laugh about some of the things that happenned that day:
We were in front of the baboon cage, which had galvanized tin sheets on the back wall. One of the young uns kept trying to leap onto the wall and then it would slip back down. The BIG ole Mom just kept watching all the humans. The young uns stopped just as my husband walked up and I urged one of the little guys to "do that again" verbally and with a hand motion. In one huge leap the BIG Mom was in my face, on the front of the cage and kind of snorting at me. Man, could she move fast for such a BIG Mom. I screeched and ran. In fact most of the people in front of the cage dashed away from the cage. My sons laughed hysterically and although now in their early thirties they love to reminisce about that day. I was a little jumpy after that and had 2 minor frights before the day ended, the boys thought it was hilarious to see.
Hope you all enjoyed it!

nope fairly small, but it's also 5 min from the beach, or 5 or so min from the motorplex either way a great day or weekend trip.
Your quite welcome Lesster, we make an annual trip there and stop at the beach usually then the Growling Gator for supper. It's always fun my 15yr old daughter still falls for the "North American Monkey"

re---Elmvale Zoo...that zoo is quite popular this time of year. In fact I have never seen it busier. I saw at least 75 cars parked out front, this past Sat. You see, my parents have a cottage(just north of Balm Beach) near Midland/Penetang, and I drive by there quite often.
