logitech quick cam 6.0.1 not working

hi there: i had a webcam downloaded on my computer, now it doesnt work anymore...so i uninstalled and tried to install again... i can get to a certain point, where it asks me to plug in my cam...and then nothing...it says something like, your camera device is being used by another application...not sure what that means...i dont have anything else on my computer...i recently downloaded msn messanger and avg anti virus on my computer..could this have caused my webcam not to work, or is msn messanger conflicting with the webcam....i am running windows 98...thanks

if msn messenger is open then maybe it is using the webcam but i really doubt that. a friend of mine had several problems like that with logitech quick cam. what she did was install another program that let's you use the webcam as oppose to the silly logitech software that causes her problems. i assume you have the drivers installed so everything should work with other software.
you can use something like Taran Suite which has a Capture Audio/Video component which allows you to see the webcam and take pics and encode video and stuff. that program is at http://www.crainicsoft.net
