microsoft virtual server.

will this product allow someone to build a website and use their hard drive space and broadband connection to broadcast their website without having to put it 'online' say through geocities.

id love to do this. just to set up and have friends be able to download stuff off me and vice versa.

In essence..... could i set up my own 'torrent' site with this product.

It seems to be just a product that allows you to run several discreet operating systems on one computer at the same time. I doubt it will allow you to set up your own internet 'server.'

Install Abyss Web Server. Basicly lets you host your own web site on your machine. Go to http://www.aprelium.com and have fun.

Its a lot like VMWARE, allows you to setup a virtual machine, but it would not be appropriate for a website. Forget about setting up a torrent site, you don't have the money for the bandwidth required, and no one would host it for you anyway. You could setup an ftp site, that is more feasable then a torrent site.

What you need is a webserver.

There are lots around that are free and some pay.

I think windows XP has IIS, that should be on the CD. Its generally not installed by default.

A free software is Apache, its used widely by many companies to host their websites.
