I just found out that if you stew the prunes that have the pitts removed... the juice doesn't thicken and the opposite happens if you use the prunes with the pits still in them!

I always use pitted prunes (note to self: visit Bulk Barn), so I can offer no personal experience.

I will say that that pitted prunes puff up very well.

I don't bother drinking the water, though I do understand that some do.

I put 4 demerara-style sugar cubes in mine. ;)

You wouldn't believe the diff it makes...the taste isn't even the same...the stewed pitted prunes are way better.....I like the juice!

Yes, my sister likes it too.

But I'm afraid of loosing a tooth in a moment of distraction.

;)

I'll keep it mind.

The pits don't pose that much of a problem after the prunes have been stewed!

And, as Worf says, "A warrior's drink." ;)

...and the prunes are fantabulous for breakfast!

Have you tried stewed apricots yet?

Or raisins, for that matter??

I've done the stewed apricots but have only used stewed raisins(alexis) in a pie.
