Hi all,
I saw on a local computer show a program that enables a user to invite another to access their computer. I don't know how to explain it well, but, for example, if my mother was having computer problems, through this program I could peruse her computer and troubleshoot without having to go to her house. I visited the site and thought I had bookmarked it, but can't find it anywhere. Did anyone see the show or knows of a program that allows this? Btw, not only is the program easy to use, it's FREE!

Microsoft's Remote Assistance. Both computers need WinXP. Comes with WinXP built in.

The client doesn't need to be XP. You can get the client from the link above. The remote machine must be running XP Pro.
Oops, never mind I was thinking of Remote desktop. But you can use a third part application for remote access if your not running XP. I personally like and find TightVNC fast. FREE

Not sure...but doesn't Symantec's PC anywhere do the same sort of thing?

Agreed, I've used it and it works well.

Yo, Symantec's product isn't free.
Remote Assistance will work on XP Home/Pro and if the person has XP Pro and you need to access to the desktop remotely without the user present then Remote Desktop is another one you can use.

Thanks, folks, for your suggestions.
Digiital, that's the kind of program I saw, but it was free and didn't have a monthly access fee. Thanks, andyhon, I checked out the site, but the program I saw must be very new if it's not part of that pack. I remember checking it out online and it seemed very easy to use (ie, tweakie style!). I tried PC Anywhere many years ago, but it was too complicated. It might be easier now, but I've not had an urge to go back. I'm sure MS has its users bests interests at heart, but I'm not in a hurry. I'll look for other options.
Other suggests are appreciated folks. The criteria is simple:
User friendly with lots of screen shots (easy!), and
free (although I don't mind paying a donation if the program meets my needs).
Thanks.
I think the reason I'm having such a hard time is that the program had a "cute" name, ie, usee4me or eyec4u (although it's neither of those), which makes it harder to establish a good search. *sigh*
Have a look at this one tweakthis.

a virtual private network would be the best Glen.
you can't go wrong with trying this out Tweekie GoToMyPC (http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/GoToMyPC/3000-7240_2-10349578.html)
Burn it to CD and install on moms machine or download from there.
Hers will be the "office" that you need to get into.
