Classless Inter Domain Routing Help

Does anyone have a link to or a way to describe how CIDR works,

I know subnetting by class but am a little behind on this CIDR stuff,
any help is appreciated

Basically, same as subnetting by class, EXCEPT you no longer follow classes...they're meaningless. i.e. you can have first 7 bits representing host, or 17...you're not limited.The wikipedia entry for CIDR should help you out.
