I`m trying to clean my son's computer (that`s why parents are for...) he got XP and I got win98se, so the xp is kind of new to me (but I`m learning). there are some files that I can not find in add/remove program, or: start, all programs , only thru explore or mycomputer C/program files, those files are AOL, Networld, AT T, can I just delete them thru: explore or C/program files?? in other word: not the right way??

absolutely ...
Have a look in the folder for an un-install .. but right clicking the folder and choosing delete is fine.
also go to Windows | Documents and Settings |User Name and have a look in there those ISPs come packaged with M$ and there should be some of those in there aswell (forgot where)

even using an Un-install.exe or Add & Remove will leave some things behind.
by deleteting the folder the most you leave behind is the Registry entries.
