We are renovating our house. So we put all our furniture out on the deck and made a tarp tent.It got really windy the other day and the tarps blew away.So we ran out an bought a gazebo.I spent hours sewing these curtains to go around it and intended on getting some nikwax to water proof the curtains.
Well , with this downpour today ...I found out our gazebo is not water proof on one side. The side where our antique cabinet and stereo was.So needless to say it got wet...and I need to contact Canadian tire for a replacement canopy and contact our insurance company.Hope it's covered.
This reno has been a nightmare....I even got smacked in the face with one of the canopy poles and bruised my face up ...also gave me a nice cut too.
What a day :(...actually , what a week.

You misspelt that too Swordy... it's 'snowbodys smerfect' ;)

Chevy, if it wasn't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all :(

I hope the damage isn't too bad...

Hey, Chevy, sorry to hear the news. Those Cdn Tire tarps are really just to take on a picnic to keep away light rain and provide some protection from the sun. I had one that I tried to keep up in my back yard (which gets a all day sun) and it didn't even make it through the summer because the poles kept collapsing. They are great for light use. LOL Good luck with the insurance company.

For Chevy

When we did renos almost four years ago everything went really well, until we were just about finished and the roof started leaking like crazy. We had to add another $4000 for a new roof to the $60,000 already spent on renos. I feel your pain.

For Vodophone

Spelling can be a touchy issue on here, some folks get annoyed by poor grammar & spelling and when they say something the person who has misspelled the word (words) takes it personally. I try to adhere to two rules in situations like this. I only say something if the spelling/grammar errors are so severe that it makes the post impossible to understand and I always make sure before I post a comment that my spelling is correct. The latter applies to you which may why you were jumped on. I have the advantage of being able to fix the errors instead of commenting on them, it allows me to be as anal I like about spelling without making anyone feel bad. My personal grammar sin is an overuse of parenthesis and run on sentences. :ght:

I figure that you probably misspelled a few words to add humour to your comment but then I have the ability to find humour in almost anything. :eri:

Okay I dont spell so good lol.My grammar sucks too.I dont know why I goofed...I guess cause I was pissed.
Then again I do it all the time.Sorry to hear about that bad reno job Lesley.Mine has been not too bad so far.We didnt bother with the insurance thing or even returning it to canadian tire.As tweakthis stated they arent that great to begin with.We decided to get that nikwax...well...it's okay.Today we are gonna get some waterproofing for tents. That should do it.Gotta go...time to get coffee and go rent that floor sander.Ughhh...my back and arms hurt as it is.Be back by sunday....blocking off the house and gonna live in the basement till floor is done. Not so bad...watch my 52 inch and drink some well deserved beer.

It happens unfortunately. On the upside the roof is done and it should be good for a while (crossing fingers).

Enjoy the TV and brewskies!!!

Well here it is the weekends over and the floor job went bad.We sanded it okay. The water marks did not come out though. We even tried bleaching them as suggested. So we tried a nice dark red mahoganny stain , hoping it would hide it.No luck there. Then we decided to remove a few of the stained boards and replace with new.No luck there either...no one sells anything close to it.We were told to try peacok lumber but we didnt make it.Decided to steal the hard wood floor boards from the front hall and closet...since we plan on putting tile there anyway. So needless to say we ripped up half the floor to fix about 20 water stains. Will post pics tomorrow....we try to take pics of all the reno's we do.Also with this humidity...the floor stain will not dry.It said up to 8 hours....two days later it's still wet. What a pain.Heres hoping it looks good when we are done.
