Answering Machine

Does anybody here have an answering machine? I tried hooking up mine up to the phoneline but it doesn't work. It's one of those old analogue ones--you know, the ones that use tape cassettes. Could that be the reason why it doesn't work.

Using tape shouldn't affect it. Are you sure you set the answering machine up correctly?

Highly unlikely thats the reason. I am guessing you just bought this from say something like a yard sale? Why bother with something like that when a new digital answering machine can be had for say 30 bucks. My guess would be its something mechanical (moving parts) thats not allowing it to record properly. Its seen its better days unfortunately.

I got one at walmart for 20+tax.
most likely that old one has the wrong type of tape in use.
or the belt is gone or the sensing strip on the tape is burned
out.
