OK, If you may recall, last week a whole bunch of my windows programs went missing. I gaev up, OK, I'm weak. and I re-installed windows. Now my monitor keeps cutting out and my computer randomly freezes afterwards. Sometimes it even reboots itself!

I took my computer for a ride on the weekend, but my cdrom wasnt screwed in (oops) but I'm hoping that nothing got damaged (Could that be it?)

Please help. I cant use my computer at all because it freezes/flashes so much.

FYI im running a GeForce 5200+ and I have 512 ram on my Asus motherboard. and YES i didnt install the drivers.

Bad windows install? PLease help!

- Open it up and make sure that the HSF (cpu cooler) is clean and properly installed.

- Inspect motherboard capacitors for bulging and/or leaking

- Ensure that there is sufficient cooling - especially around the hard drive

- Run a disk surface scan/drive diagnostics

All I can add to what AMD said is make sure everything is seated properly, all of your cables and expansion cards. Your best bet would be to unplug each cable and reseat them, one at a time, the same with the cards. Where computers are concerned a cable/card may look fine but it only has to be off a bit to effect your whole system.

With this make sure the fan (if you have one) on your video card is working properly.

May want to run a memory diagnostics program such as

MemTest86+ (http://www.memtest.org)
