Hello I just got a DVD burner FINALY :) but it seems to have a slight problem. When I installed the DVD burner to my pc it made it slower...booting windows would take 5x as long and in windows I would experience alot of lag...unbariable lag... Other than that the burner works great. My hardrive is a SATA so the IDE DVD burner shouldn't effected it. Ive had burners and DVD readers but never had a problem. I have a top of the line new pc and im very fusterated. Ive tried reformating...ive tried jumpers and now im lost..TCM PLEASE HELP ME!!! :llh:

Thanks;
Cameron

Is the jumper set correctly?

If it's on the same IDE channel as the hard drive, Western digitals have a different setting for master and slave compared to master with no slave. Check it.

Sometimes optical drives don't like being on the same IDE channel.

oops - my bad.

Make sure that the IDE controller is configured properly - on many systems, only one channel can be used when SATA is in use.

I just checked the motherboard manual and there is no reference to not being able to use two IDE channels when serial ATA is in use. Each board is different.
