No alarm clock needed here... i have a couple of "nature's" furry waker uppers. Two very spoiled and demanding cats that do the trick! Sleeping in is anything past 5:30!!
I wake up out of fear. Fear of what will happen to me. Fear that I will not have a freshly ground Starbucks coffee for the boss as her beautiful eyes open to greet the day. No alarm clock needed.

One eye at a time.:d
My internal chronometer tends to be my alarm clock. Many years of getting up @ 5:15am no matter how late bedtime was. I'm one of those "up and at it" people, although I enjoy my morning coffee it's not my wakeup juice.
Oh, and as Ken said, I then say "good morning :ffe:" in the shout box.:)

Up at anywhere from 4:30 to 5:30 ... usually about 5:00. Like Frogy, a natural alarm clock. In fact, if I set an alarm for a certain time, I will wake up just before that time and shut if off before it goes.
Up and at the computer. About a half hour later drink a vitamin/mineral laced chocolate milk based drink. Can't eat until 2-3 hours after I wake up.
Watch BT at 6:30 or 7 for about 1/2 hr max., then back at it.
Eat a small breakfast, usually 12 grain toast with Peanut Butter and Plum jam, about 9 after my wife gets up :d
My western colleagues in BC say "Good morning" at 11 our time, and I've already been at it for about 5 hours or so.
Good morning world, where ya bin?

A sure sign of someone that drinks way too much coffee :ght:
It takes me about 1/2 hour or so of stretching before I can even think of rolling out of bed... then stumble and stagger to the coffee maker... while it's doing it's thing, I start doing my exercises... turn on the idiot box and watch BT for awhile.

What is your profession Bogie? I would love a job that consists of watching BT and drinking chocolate and having breakfast. :) What is it that you do at the computer during the day..work wise? (Not trying to be smart, just asking).

Another "cat alarm" here, 4:30 to 5:00AM every day, no respect for weekends or holidays. Best time of the day if you're used to it! :)

(Not trying to be smart, just asking).LOL ... work from home running/managing 3 businesses online. Financial Services continuing education training (http://www.infotrendscanada.ca) (across Canada), website hosting (http://www.geeksmedia.com) and design, and another "developing (http://www.exploringsuccesspotential.com)" business. Therefore my schedule is flexible, to some degree, but demanding at times. It also means long days.
I'm a 4 hour sleeper (sometimes 5), by nature, always have been. Usually asleep by 12 midnight or 12:30, up at anywhere from 4 to 5. It's a curse :d
BT is my early morning coffee break, and "chocolate" (supplement drink) is my coffee (same family of beans).
Alarm clock goes off at 2:50 AM, stumble into the shower then down stairs for a morning tea. Take the dam dog out. Check in with dispatch and be rollin by 4:00 am. Like Bogie I'm a 4 to 5 hour sleeper usually in bed between 10 and 11pm Mon to Fri. and up by 3. Saturdays I sleep a little more bed at 12 and up by 8.

Think mine started when I was in my teens and twenties. Summer and weekend job was working on or driving moving vans, and later on driving highway trailer. Another job was wholesale route sales (milk/ice cream) over a large territory, so time for sleep was minimal LOL. My biological clock hasn't changed since.

Mine started at 16 my first summer working on the moving vans, I lived a hour away from the shop so between the long hours and going back and forth = no sleep. Strangest thing though is i stayed in that profession almost 13 years

Strangest thing though is i stayed in that profession almost 13 yearsActually, I miss it, although many years ago. Allied Van Lines, in Barrie, during the summer and weekends. Camp Borden was close by (I lived there with my parents), so always lots of work to do. 1st summer was .90 per hour and I made about $100 per week (summer), if that gives you an idea on my long hours! Was making more $$ than any of my friends. Did Allied in Barrie and Ottawa, and also North American in Ottawa. Loved the highway, cab-overs and 45' volume-van trailers.
Did summer sales routes for Neilsons Ice Cream (summer) for 4 years and (same company) Donlands Dairy rest of year. Long hours - and I mean "long". Summer was leave at 5 a.m. and back at 1 a.m. next morning on some routes.
Now I sit behind a desk and keep long hours on the computer/net ... LOL.

My alarm is set for 3am. But it usually only goes off once every 2 months or so.
My internal alarm goes off at 2:40am. I get up, turn off the alarm as it's not needed, hit the shower, have my cereal, do the Good Morning thread, visit the john, get dressed, and head off to work. Out the door for 3:45 and at work for 4am. By 4:30 I'm in my bus going down the road and pick up my first passenger at 5:01.
Yup, pretty routine.

what is it that you taz that you check in with "dispatch"?
for me, its kinda like this..
-----------------------------
5:30am - alarm1 goes off - hit snooze button, and roll over
5:39am - alarm1 goes off again (9 minute snooze)- repeat of at 5:30
5:48am - alarm1 goes off again - off switch is hit for alarm1
6:00am - alarm2 goes off - snooze is hit
6:09am - alarm2 goes off again (9 minute snooze)- repeat of at 6:00
6:18am - alarm2 goes off again - see above
6:27am - roll out of bed because im getting tired of hitting snooze
6:45am - after picking myself up off the floor, its to the showers i go.
7:00am - im out of the showered, shaved, and dried.
7:10am - im dressed, and walking out the door for the bus
7:20am - im bording the bus, to fall asleep again for 20 min
7:40am - im off the bus at work, and stop outside for a smoke and socialize (shift doesnt start till 9am)
8:30am - realize i didnt eat breckie so i go into the vending machines for food
8:35am - realize there is nothing good for breckie
8:40am - signing onto the computers, getting ready to actually work
9:01am - get my ear blasted with a *beep* followed by some robotic womans voice telling me the nature of the call.
---------------------------------------------
i work in a call centre in oshawa, i hate it... so i've applied for supervisor.. i imagine this schedule will change

For me it is alarm clock at 7:30am, then BT & breakfast for about 15-20 min. At work by 9:00am. On a good day the coffee doesn't have to be brewing (trying not to drink too much of it all the time) but when needed the first cup comes at about 10:00am.
[QUOTE=imboden]what is it that you taz that you check in with "dispatch"?
Owner/Operator contracted with Canada Post, I deliver the mail from the sorting depot in London to 10 towns in the area. We have to let dispatch know we are alive and well for our run or they end up scrambleing to find a driver. The mail must be delivered.

I set an alarm clock to go off and my watch to go off at 5am - but I'm usually up before they both go off. No coffee, tea or smokes for me.... just some O.J.... sometimes.
I get up at 4am on Fridays...
No alarm clock here either, although I do set it for 6.00am just in case. I end up not needing it most times.
I wake up, hit the shower, have brekky (rye bread toast with strawberry jam, cereal and a glass of OJ) scan the Globe and Mail and head off to work.
