I have lots of problems with my WMP. I will start off by telling you that, if I open a file that has the WMP icon, it opens, open with. And WMP isn't there. So I went to start, program files, and look for WMP. And there it is. I clicked on it and it get a message box.

I picked Yes, and my IE went to the url, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/download/download.aspx. And I clicked on download and MP10Setup.exe appeared, and I clicked on run, and once finish downloading I get another message box ( ) saying,

EDIT 1:I am currently running System File Checker (Command prompt, then sfc /scannow). And will edit this post to give results and what I am currently doing to try and solve this.
EDIT 2: System File Checker has completed, so I went to run MP10Setup.exe, same thing occur. And running it again, and going to restart.
EDIT 3: During booting, a "Please Wait..." text appeared after Windows had load. And the startup was longer then usually. I tried downloading it again, and same thing occur again.
EDIT 4: By the way, I'm using Windows XP. I can't reinstall my Windows XP, because I got 3 restore CDs which will delete all data on my hard drive, as the manual says (I have an eMachine).
EDIT 5: I have solved the problem. I searched and searched on Google, and there were lots of things that was mentioned to fix this problem. But, no website had a very good way to fix this. So, I'm glad to say, I will tell you what I did to fix two hard errors, that even Microsoft couldn't help me at there website.
In order to fix the first problem about "Windows Media Technology", I went down to SP1 from SP2. This also reinstalled WMP for me. Restarted, and tried to play a file, another error occurred, "An internal application error has occured.", I tried reinstalling WMP 10, same thing occur. Then I registered Jscript.dll and Vbscript.dll (Forgot the website that told me this helps), and this successfully made WMP 10 to work. But, now I have to upgrade back to SP2. My fingers are crossed that WMP still works.
It works! :)
