360 Controller Question

I was wondering, is it possible for me to use my pc joystick for 360 flight games? I plugged it in, and it gets power (ie lights go on) but i cant choose it in the ingame menu as a controller. (has the option to pick controller type, but greyed out) Do you have to configure it with the 360 first or something? Or do they not allow the use of different hardware?

i dont think you can do this. this select controller feature is probley for other hardware devloped for the 360.
