I took this about a month ago up near cayuga, first time to a drag strip :D
A consecutive image stitched together, kinda big.

Chew... your PM box is full so I am posting this here...
your photo does not fit the rules as it is "photoshopped" ie stitched together....
perhaps someone should start a contest for Photoshopping....
but this contest is for unaltered photos only

This is strictly my opinion, but seeing that "the chew" couldn't get the full picture intended and joined two pics together, doesn't count as photoshopping in my opinion. The photo was just joined to make it complete. Photoshopping is when someone actually alters a pic to take bad looking things out or by adding things that weren't there in the first place just to make it a better looking picture.
From this site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photoshopping and I quote "Examples of photoshopping include people changing a picture of a well known actress to make it appear as if she has posed nude. In other examples two or more pictures are combined together for humour value."
This is not the case here. They were combined together to show the whole picture, not for "humour value". I think it should be allowed to stay in the contest even though it was poorly joined. Just my thoughts.
i agree its a very nice picture

I dont see why you should have to as nothing other than trying to show the whole picture has been done. You didn't add or remove anything from the picture, just joined 2 to show what the whole thing looks like. Its not your fault you were too close and couldn't get the whole thing in from where you sat. Dragstrips tend to be very long.

Well in that case, my photo isnt valid either, as I "cropped" it in photoshop and got rid of the garbage pails and brown grass. :hsh:

Mander... the key word in your definition is "including"...
the problem is where do we draw the line... I can see cropping a picture since it only does what can be obtained by either getting closer or zooming in more but stitching the pictures together is clearly not something you can do with just a camera.
I have nothing against altering photos but that is not why we started this contest.. it was to get people using their cameras and displaying the results.
AS I said before maybe someone should start a different contest for the best photoshopping.

See now there is my point, yours has had things altered to make it a better looking picture. Now if you were to use the original instead, that would be fine. Nothing was romoved from the chews photo, just joined together.

Just to help the chew out, and I think this makes for an even better picture. It has been alterer in no way except being resized and the photoshopping section removed. "the chew", if you would like to use this instead, seeing that there seems to be a problem with joining pics, save it and upload. I will delete this post of you should choose to use it.

What I am posting is the left side of his original picture. If you notice, I sized the picture to exclude the second picture on the right that was joined to the first. So basically what I have done is use his original first pic to make it a single picture. Nothing has been altered other than that. Its his original pic of a 2 picture panoramic view if you will.

ya I see you took out the last picture on the right, I have a fully edited pic but its massive, even after optimizing in photoshop, its still 3mb.
I'll just take my pic out, don't wanna cause any problems.
I'll create that photoshop contest :D

No need to drop out of the contest. Instead of having the link in your original thread, edit it to take that one out and put this in with the quotes. You are free to host it off my photobucket account. "[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/mander64/smilies/Image1.jpg[/img"

Controversy???. There was a minor dispute as to what was allowed and what wasn't..and a discussion as to why but I believe that has been solved without it getting out of hand. Its a photo contest after all wil the prize being the winner gets to pick the next weeks topic. I went as far as stating my views on a particular photo and stand behind it but to stay within the guidlines, added a pic to be entered under this persons name and to be judged accordingly. If it makes everyone feel better, please judge the chews pic on the one I have posted, not dispute his original one as it seems to fall outside of the tight rules. I will say no more.

I guess I should've had a "lol" or "j/k" or something after that, I meant it jokingly. So, maybe I should have used the word discussion.
This subject has been very interesting; I have thoroughly enjoyed the photos and have voted twice. I take the competition to be in the spirit of light-hearted competition. I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone, I was laughing at myself - and only myself!
I hope the photos continue for all to enjoy!

How could you have voted twice? Only one vote per member is ever allowed. If you have 2 member names and voted for the same one now thats just downright cheating. Seems this is getting worse all the time. :(

I think he voted twice as in two separate photo contests. ;)
All is well.

I think what he means is that he's voted twice in two different weekly contests :)

Holy wasted threads batman.
29 posts and only 5 pictures.
Too much arguing about rules this week.
Lighten up and just post your pictures.
Let the voters decide.
