my xbox 360 just started saying EVERY one of my 20 games is unreadable this morning, now i have the 2 year warranty, do u think if i took it back they would replace it? or try to fix it and take 2 months? plus if i DID get to replace it with a new one would they let me keep my hard drive?

Take it back, it wont take two months, maybe 2 weeks tops if you ahve to send it in (depending if you got MS warranty or in store) When you take it or send it in do not take the hard drive. Keep it.

I have gotten that ever since I got Enchanted Arms back in July/August, it is quite annoying. I would take the core unit back and just keep the rest of the stuff, if I were you. That is what I will be doing once the newer quieter 360's come out, hopefully before May 2007, when my 1 year EB warrenty ends.

I am also wondering if it could be dust in the system, anyone know of 360 cleaner kits out there?

i ended up taking it back, and they told me i couldnt exchange it for a new one, that they would have to send mine in for repair and it would take about 3 weeks to get it back, and i was like UGH because my seasonal job just ended so i have all the time in the world to play games, so what i did was "loan" a core system and keep my hard drive. But i had to pay for the core and i get my money back when mine is fixed. i was thinking that it might be to much dust on the eye, because its been acting up for a few weeks, saying games weren't readable, but id just have to pop the tray open and close it again and it would be fine.

That is exactly the problem I am having, and the solution to getting it to work again... We need a more permanent solution!

im starting to get worried here, its been about 3 1/2 weeks now and i havent gotten it back yet, and i hear you only have 30 days to return things, and i called at about the 3 week mark, and the guy told me it was going to be ANOTHER 2-3 weeks, so when its fixed i dont wana go back there and have them be like, oh its been longer then 30 days so you have to keep the core system.

looks like you will be getting a new one...if it takes forever to fix, you will get a new one..

Did you buy the warranty from Best Buy or FutureShop? You'll have to double check on the exact number of days, but I believe that you can demand a new one after 60 days. Even if they say otherwise, I would return the Core before the 30 days is up. You don't want to be stuck with a second 360.

Isnt there a limitation on how long it can be out for repair? FS says 30 days or we replace it with a new one, doesnt BB's policy say anything about how long it can take? Otherwise, whats to stop them telling you each tome, another 2-3 weeks? Its a bit ridiculous to expect the consumer to wait 'forever' for a repaired system. I would want a limitation to how long it will take, otherwise they are not managing your expectations which is crazy and unprofessional.

If you think the laser is dirty it might be worth buying a dvd cleaning disk. Even if the box can't read the disk it'll still spin it up and that's really all it takes. I've never used one in an xbox, either version, but I've seen it save cd/dvd drives both standalone and PC.

BB's PSP says "If a repair takes longer than 60 days to complete, we will replace it with a product of compairable performance or issue a store credit for the original price..."

And as said above, make sure you take back your 'loaner' system before 30 days is up... or you'll own it ;)

Yeah, don't take this lying down, go to the store and demand to see a manager, get an answer as to WHEN your 360 will come back from repair, call BB's head office if necessary!!

Wow, after all of this, including selling a core unit that they'll have to now take back and sell as a returned unit, and all the staff time, they'd have been better off just giving you a core unit and sending your defective one back.
