I think the definition is when something gets put on hold. Pronounced high-ay-dus?

I enjoy many hiatuses; from the things I do every day.
normally hiatus would mean a Long term absence.
almost 'a' healing

Funny, when you think of it, if you don't know to spell a word, it's hard to look it up in a dictionary for the correct spelling :d
Who'd ever thought that "pneumonia" would start with a "p"?

or F as in Phone....what's that all about?Probably a legacy from the word being taken from another language... Greek I guess...
English is probably the most nonsensical language in the world. For just about ever grammatical or phonetical 'rule', you can find some exception.
Ex. -For the normal "F" sound (as in "frog"), you can get it in at least 2 other ways. "Ph" as in "phone", "ough" as in "rough"
In a documentary series recently on TVO about the English language, they even mentioned one common syllable sound that had at least 5 possible spellings.
Sometimes it's so clear why so many kids have problems with "mastering" what should be their native tongue. It's so full of contradictions that you would think it would collapse on itself like some huge imploded building.

and whatever you do don't get hooked on phonics.
it makes spelling in the real world a real chore.

The english language is so flexible, and that is the main reason that it is global language. Easy to learn, and you can say things out of order, mispell them, and still be understood.
But do you know the difference? Test yourself here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3876883.stm)
and ...
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe. ceehiro.

Darn you and your testing, Bogie. I can't believe I got one wrong. LOL Then again, I was thinking that my tea should be ready while I was taking the test. Perhaps it was a subliminal error. LOL
