Hello

I have not used my Palm for about 2 weeks....Recharged it last night in the cradle, and this morning the screen is not responding to any taps. Did a reset/hard reset/etc...still nothing.

the buttons (eg address/graffiti/etc) works, but cannot seem to enter anything via the screen....

any ideas what is wrong, and how I can 'fix' it?

thanks

Sounds like it might be dead. If after doing the hard reset it won't respond then most likely it's done. If you feel like taking a chance you could try taking the unit apart and reseat the small small ribbon cable that attaches the screen to the main board. I think you need a special screw driver to open them up (not sure what it's called).

Thanks, I was afraid of that. I guess not 'harm' now to open it up and make sure the contacts are firm and secure...I have been reading around and yes there is a 'special' tool that I need to open it up....saw it at www.gethightech.com

On some Palm Pilots when you get them out of the package you train the screen to respond to your pen, if that is so in your case try using you buttons to get to that screen and retrain. I have had to do that myself a number of times.

do you know which buttons will get the Palm Pilot to 'retrain' screen?

quick update...after the hard-reboot the screen was still not responding, and was 'stuck' in the screen setting mode....turn off the palm, left it for 3 or 4 days...turned it back on this morning and Presto/Bingo...everything works again....strange

thanks for all your help...

This was an issue that palm had on several handhelds. On my palmV It would do it every time I would remove it from the cradle.

There was a hack you could get that would reset the palm after a time interval when there was an application hang, or with a button combination.
